Good Morning, Hundred Dollars

By Inga Garuchava & Peter Khotyanovski

The title of the play ‘Good Morning, Hundred Dollars!’ draws on real-life situations, like a routine drudgery, which a lady from our Georgia is compelled to accept as her new way of life to provide for the well-being of her family. Hers is the life which demands of her a good deal of patience, humility, upholding of sense of patriotism and preservation of human dignity, all this without becoming devoid of feelings of love and human compassion. The characters of our play managed to overcome those difficulties.  – Inga Garuchava and Peter Khotyanovski

Our shared history has predetermined our current way of life, our destiny, and our everyday hardships. It has been once again demonstrated how much burden a woman can carry on her fragile shoulders, how powerful her love can be and how tolerantly she can handle reality, how firm she can be in the face of sufferings and how unflinching when confronted with harsh circumstances suggested by life. And most importantly, managing to remain a woman with all her aspirations and obligations in place! It is only a good fortune of mine to have worked on a play like this one, and to continue dealing with such actors and art director. It is a sheer happiness to have to do with a theater, founded by a real patron of arts whose genuine love for theater is a huge stimulus for all of us. Creating this spectacle, we were all constantly thinking of the men and women who are spending numerous years of their lives away from their homes in order for them to keep those homes up and going – Keti Dolidze.
